I did listen to some music CD's, but the living room is 99% streaming so I focused more on movies and TV. Without going into a ton of details (but there is a TLDR afterwards), here's how my ears ranked these. Using a Marantz NR1200 (one of the very few 2-channel HDMI receivers on the market), but I might add an external amp. Decided against bothering with surround sound in our new home, but the substantial soundstage depth of bipolar speakers is an great substitute. I got these for my 2-channel living room system. I tried a corner placement in a different part of the house knowing it probably wouldnвЂ™t work and yes, they sounded pretty terrible. Beyond that the bipolar design really works, if you can place them correctly. Friends who are hearing it for the first time assume IвЂ™ve got a sub hidden somewhere. With the pseudo transmission line design of the speakers they dig deep, down to 22hz. Probably my favorite system to listen is a Parasound stack with the DefTechs in my home office/work area.

Good for movie explosions, muddy and sloppy for music. It as basically just a bit speaker crossed over low. At one point and I didnвЂ™t plan it that way but I had the entire first series of 5.1 DefTechs down to a 15вЂќ PowerField sub and B1B bi polar rear/bookshelves, just never all hooked up in a surround system. Also a matching center in storage, the C1 with an aluminum dome but I can find no mention of a C1B. The 2nd B is a an aluminum tweeter, which was not as common as the soft dome (silk?) tweeters.
